My association with Gurudev began in Houston, Texas, USA, in 1979 while I was visiting from Norway. Gurudev had just returned from a trip to Fiji with a newly married devotee and his godbrother Dharma Bhavanadas. I heard his discourses on Bhagavad-Gita, and it made an immediate impression upon me. With the mercy of Radharani, I continued his satsang again in Houston, and later on the Oklahoma farm and in Dallas, where I had even closer participation at Kalachand Ji's Dham, until 1999.

Gurudev considered me a good friend. In fact, he is my shiksha guru, as he aksed me to chant Maha-Mantra properly. He always explained subtle meanings privately to me and removed all doubts. Upon his return from Fiji, he arranged to give me his video clarifying Many Gods.

It so happened that in 1982, I watched his TV interview, which was 45 minutes long, and reported it to him. Smilingly, he acknowledged that it was only me who watched the live program. Again in Dallas, once he sprinkled Holy Water on my head while conducting Srimad Bhagavatam class in reciprocation of what I had just done for him and the congregation.

Since my middle name is Narayan, he always used to joke and refer to me to other devotees as an example: "Ask Narayan, as he is an expert in handling Laxmi."

He always allowed me to embrace him, and when I used to bless him with the words "May Radharani increase our devotion to Krishna," he always acknowledged with the words "Hare Krishna" and "May your words be true."

My humble prayers for his services in the eternal abode of Krishna in Goloka!
