The Gurukula will cater and serve prasadam for the GBC and its guests. One day during the meetings, the GBC will reciprocate by cooking and serving prasadam for the Gurukula staff and students.
Meetings to Take Place in New Location
The GBC Executive Committee has confirmed that the 2001 GBC meeting will take place Feb. 7 - 19 at the Vaishnava Academy building in Mayapur. The Vaishnava Academy is the new four-story building near the Jalangi adjacent to the Mayapur Gurukula and Goshala.
Why the change from the Conch building?
The Mayapur Gurukula headmaster, Vedasara Prabhu, has asked the GBC to use the new venue so the members can interact more closely with the Mayapur Gurukula students. The Gurukula will cater and serve prasadam for the GBC and its guests. One day during the meetings, the GBC will reciprocate by cooking and serving prasadam for the Gurukula staff and students.
Further, the VA building, which houses the offices of the GBC Secretariat, will provide an excellent setting for the GBC meeting. For accommodations it has 20 simple but nicely appointed double occupancy residential rooms with private veranda and hot-water baths. For the meetings it has two large classrooms (for GBC and GBC Deputy use), subcommittee meeting rooms, a kitchen, offices, suitable WC facilities and other conveniences.
The entire building will be at the GBC's disposal during the meeting.
Individual rooms do not have phones. However, there will be two phone terminals and an assistant on hand to help GBC with communications at the VA office.
Since there is not enough room at the VA to accommodate all of the 70 GBC and Deputies expected, additional rooms will be available at the Lotus building. Rooms at the Conch building are also available for Rs. 600 per night (a GBC-subsidized rate).
If you or your yatra has a room in the Conch building, please plan to use it so the VA rooms will be available for others.
Vraja Kumar Prabhu is coordinating the logistics for the meeting. Please contact him and let him know:
