What cow would not want her milk offered to Sri Krishna?

Answer to
Vegetarian vs Vegan

by Paul Howard

Hare Krishna

Although preventing suffering of cows is undoubtedly a very worthy cause which should be a concern for every devotee, I am surprised to see this article printed on Chakra.

Srila Prabhupada stressed the importance of offering milk and milk products to Krishna and honoring the resulting prasad. The goal should not be to become vegans, but to endeavor to protect cows as part of our service to Krishna. Ideally devotees (and everyone) should get milk from protected cows, but if such milk cannot be acquired, the devotee should get the best milk available. What cow would not want her milk offered to Sri Krishna?

Sincerely,
Paul Howard

P.S. I would like to warn that most of the milk sold in supermarkets is "fortified" with vitamin D from fish oil. One brand that I purchase, Organic Valley, uses vitamin D from wool instead. Apparently vitamin D is added to comply with a federal law.
