|Chakra Controlled by TKG?

CHAKRA (Bhaktivedanta Manor, UK) - May 22, 1999: Is oldchakra.com controlled by Tamal Krishna Goswami? Allegations on the Internet, trying to discredit CHAKRA's editorial policies, claim that it is.
CHAKRA's editorial policy clearly states "Articles published on CHAKRA are not subject to GBC approval. We are friends of ISKCON and the GBC, but we maintain our independence in the running of this web site."
Despite this claim, critics claim that actually it is a "mouthpiece of TKG" to "cover up his crimes."
Originally, I founded CHAKRA in December, 1997, and hosted it as a sub-web of my swami.simplenet.com site. Through e-mail I established a working relationship with a group of sannyasis and devotees who were favorable to the GBC and ISKCON and who wanted to help, and we formed the WSTRAT conference on COM, which was a kind of "steering committee" for CHAKRA. Umapati Swami came on board as CHAKRA's editor-in-chief, and Madhusudani Radha one of our editorial staff.
Umapati Swami invented the name "CHAKRA" which was derived from "CHAmpions of KRishna's Army." Madhusudani Radha registered the domain, and oldchakra.com was born. Umapati Swami recently has resigned from CHAKRA's staff.
No GBC member has any control or influence over CHAKRA or CHAKRA's policies, although we openly admit we are biased in favor of ISKCON and the GBC Body. We are friends of the GBC, but we are not controlled by the GBC. The GBC Body knows of this policy, and they also know it is for their own good. If they tried to exert any control over CHAKRA we would print the story.
We have devotees working on CHAKRA full-time, including Anadi Krsna dasa in England. The WSTRAT conference on COM has not been active for more than a year.
Sometimes CHAKRA prints articles which are critical of the GBC Body.
We printed one such article during the Mayapur GBC meetings, when the GBC's decided to exclude the Deputies from their meeting with Adridharan and Madhupandit. Although Ravindra Svarupa and Badrinarayan were upset that CHAKRA printed our article, we did it anyway.
Is CHAKRA controlled by the GBC? Ask Badrinarayan or Ravindra Svarupa for their opinion. They chaired the GBC meeting this year.
