Speech of His Excellency Alexander KADAKIN,
Ambassador of Russia in India
at the opening of
New Delhi ISKCON
Glory of India Museum

In today's world we have seen how bad it is when people are driven by horror, when people are driven by a desire to impose something on others. And in this connection, compassion and peace, harmony and coexistence, respect for each other's ideas and beliefs, respect for each other's faith has been a very constant and one of the brilliant features of the ISKCON movement.

Padayatra Returns to Jhansi
by Deena Bandhu das

On September 20, Srila Prabhupada's Sankirtan Padayatra on their way to Dwarka to complete four times around India arrived again in Jhansi. They were greeted by many of the leading citizens of the city....

The people of Jhansi have become very proud of Srila Prabhupada, who made Jhansi famous all over the world. Although previously, the many young people who flocked to Srila Prabhupada in the 50's did not have the influence to help Srila Prabhupada keep his League of Devotees in the Radha Memorial, now the leading citizens have promised land and assistance in opening a center in Jhansi.

Santanu Kund to Radha Kund
By
Bhakta Damon

CHAKRA (Vraja Mandala Parikrama) - Krishna has played on every square inch of our parikrama path. There is no such spot that you can choose and say "Krishna didn't perform pastimes here." Not even one space the size of a pin. We meditate on all the wonderful activities Krishna performed in His manifested pastimes. There are too many places to visit at one time, and not enough time to tell all the pastimes that have occurred in these forests of Vrindavan.

Help from Vancouver to Orissa in memory of Srila Prabhupada
By Krsna Kanta devi dasi

Particularly moved by the various reports given on CHAKRA by Bhima, Basu Gosh, and Mukunda Madhava Prabhus, I contacted Jaya Govinda, our previous temple president but current temple authority, about what I thought would be a way to gather some funds to help the situation there. To my surprise, as I was mentioning various local individuals who had immediately pledged at my place of business upon hearing these reports, various hands started to raise from the audience, pledging 10, 50, 100, 200 dollars. One person even pledged 500 dollars! Devotees’ hearts were touched!

Temples destroyed in Turkmenistan
Wednesday 8 September
by Felix Corley, Keston News Service

The Turkmen authorities - who are inflicting the harshest religious policy in the whole of the former Soviet Union - have turned their attention to the Hare Krishna community after taking steps to try to halt the activities of Protestant Christian communities. Two Hare Krishna temples - in the capital Ashgabad and in the eastern town of Mary - were destroyed in August and the leader of the Ashgabad community, ALEKSANDR PRINKUR (ACHARYA DAS), was forcibly deported from the country.

The Dhama: Advice from
Jayapataka Swami
Jayapataka Swami wrote the following advice to a disciple who asked, "You have a lot of experience serving the Lord in India. Since I will have an opportunity to visit Mayapur and Vrindavana during this Gaura Purnima with a group of devotees from Riga, could you please give us some essential instructions: what to seek in the Holy Dhama and what to avoid? Thus we will be able to set up our minds properly."

TO SEEK:

SERVICE: since you get 1000 times the benefit for seva done in the Dham.

ASSOCIATION: To get the association with advanced devotees who reveal the glories of the Holy Dhama and devotional service is most important.

GOOD SADHANA: To practice spiritual activities very carefully--chanting, mangal arotik, evening arotik, etc. since this also gives 1000 times the benefit.

KNOWLEDGE: To take advantage of various opportunities to learn more about Krishna consciousness through classes, seminars, parikrama, etc.

...and more

Stay Healthy in the Dhama
Useful tips from
Kaviraj Partap S. Chauhan

During all my years of working with the devotees, I have analyzed some points, which I feel are the causes of problems that devotees face while they are in Vrindavana, especially during festivals. I would like to share these points with all of you who are coming to Vrindavana festival.

Stomach disorders like diarrhea and dysentery, stomachache, and vomiting are some the most common problems. The most common reason for getting sick in Vrindavan is the water, which is heavy and is difficult to digest. Although many devotees use the bottled water, the water used for cooking or making lemonade, lassi etc. is the regular water.

Another important factor is the changeable weather during the Gaura Purnima festival. It is generally the spring season and the climate starts getting warmer, but it is still cool in the evening, late night, and early morning (mangala arti time). The climate seems quite pleasant, but if proper care is not taken, devotees can catch cold, cough, and flu very easily.
